Special thanks
« on: August 23, 2011, 08:01:16 AM »
A real special thanks to the A** Hole that ruined my day of fishing, ruined my anchor line, and dropped my anchor to the bottom of the Columbia.

This morning at the mouth of the Cowlitz, two guys in what looked like a black boat ran over my anchor line (We had only been sitting there for an hour or so) and got it caught on their boat.  Instead of untangling their mess, they cut the anchor line and set us afloat and roared off.

You better hope I don't find out who you are, I will have you charged with the crime of malicious mischief and then sue you for the cost of anchor and line replacement.... if your lucky.

Happens a lot, in different forms. There are some general a-holes out there, period. Simple lack of concience, morale, good manners... and probably a lot of drugs...

And this week..... special thanks to Keith for finding our anchor (the hard way....he got snagged in it four times) recovering, and returning it to us.  Although we had to replace the line, getting the anchor back was cool.

i think it sucks the guy cut ya loose like that but i wonder also why your anchor line was so far out from your boat that someone could run it over and get it tangled in the prop. sounds like maybe you better tie yourself alot shorter next time so you are not causing a hazard out there t6.  :twocents:

Someone has obviously never anchored up on the Columbia. Tie up shorter? That could result in your boat sinking to the bottom. Then you wouldn't be so worried about you anchor anyway.  :chuckle: Glad you got your anchor back T6, There is absolutely no reason for someone to run over your anchor line, then cut you free? WTF. Like I said, I hate people!

seansfire,

Yup, you've never anchored in the Columbia...... Near the mouth of the Cowlitz the water is about 50 feet deep.  With the running current, you need between 150-175 feet of line to ensure you don't drag your anchor off the bottom.  If you pull off a hog line, it pisses off everyone else because now the have to worry about your anchor, your lines, and you when they get hooked up.  That is if you even stop anywhere near your intended stop.

Now if your headed to Bonneville, you could have out 150 feet of line to hold in 20-30 feet of water.

This is all dependent on how large your boat is of course.  Ours is a 20 Northriver with the extended transom.  22 Feet of boat is a bunch to anchor up.  If we didn't run out some line, I'd need a 100 lb anchor and then I'd never be able to pull it.

Just saying, thanks to Keith (Sorry I never got your last name) in the Bayliner for returning our anchor.
